Your role

Atlas Copco is building internal AI assistants (DaVinci / AI Joe) that support service technicians with real-time troubleshooting and contextual guidance. To further strengthen these capabilities, we are offering a 6-month working student / internship / Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis opportunity focused on expanding the assistants’ knowledge base and improving their performance.

In this role, your mission is to work closely with global service, product and data teams to discover and integrate new data sources, design sustainable ingestion approaches and evaluate the impact on answer quality. You will gain hands-on experience with Generative AI, Databricks and Azure while contributing directly to a solution that supports thousands of technicians worldwide.

Your key responsibilities

  • Content ingestion & data discovery
    • Ingest and integrate new documentation into the AI assistant backend (DaVinci / AI Joe) to improve coverage and relevance.
    • Support data discovery for new product companies (e.g. IAS, Desoutter): interview stakeholders, map existing systems, and assess data readiness.
  • Data quality & evaluation
    • Track, measure and analyse model accuracy and retrieval quality, with a focus on the impact of newly added data.
    • Design and run small experiments in Databricks / Python to compare different ingestion or retrieval strategies.
  • Collaboration with data owners
    • Work with documentation, product information and service teams to understand current storage formats (ST4, ServAid, SharePoint, PIM, etc.) and define sustainable ingestion strategies.
    • Help translate “AI-ingestable documentation” best practices into simple guidelines for content owners.
  • User feedback & improvement loop
    • Engage with global users and AI Champions to gather feedback on assistant behaviour.
    • Consolidate feedback into clear improvement proposals and help implement them together with the product and engineering teams.
  • Communication & reporting
    • Present progress, findings and recommendations in regular syncs with project leads and stakeholders.
    • Document data sources, experiments and learnings so they can be reused by the wider team.

To succeed, you will need

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and are excited to see what you bring to the role.

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Strong interest in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and enterprise chatbots.
  • Hands-on experience with Python (dataframes, basic scripting); basic knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Azure and/or other cloud data/ML platforms is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of concepts such as prompt engineering, RAG / semantic search or a motivation to learn them quickly.
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; able to run structured interviews and summarise findings.
  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and good communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Availability for 6 months (working student or full-time internship / thesis).

In return, we offer

  • Development: You will have access to internal learning platforms and can develop both professionally and personally – with an eye on international career opportunities.
  • Community: You can expect a supportive team culture with flat hierarchies and fast decision-making processes.
  • Well-being: Our health programs and employee assistance offerings are there for you and your family.
