Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to be based in Arlington, VA.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Build analytic and design skills.
  • Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collect and analyze data, including field surveys, under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under an experienced engineer.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least two of years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior internship experience utilizing drafting, surveying, and/or construction administration skills.
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD, electrical simulation software (SKM, ETAP, etc.), or lighting calculation programs (AGi32).
