Job Description

The Embedded hardware Internship provides practical exposure to circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, and testing for embedded and IoT systems. The intern will collaborate with experienced engineers on real-world hardware development projects, gaining hands-on experience from concept through validation.

This internship is based in our Milwaukee, WI Headquarters.

Key Accountabilities

  • Schematic design and PCB layout using industry-standard tools (Altium).

  • Support prototype board bring-up and debugging.

  • Perform circuit validation and hardware testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.

  • Collaborate with firmware engineers for hardware/firmware integration testing.

  • Document hardware test results, design changes, and lessons learned.

  • Assist in BOM (Bill of Materials) management and part selection.

  • Contribute to design reviews and troubleshooting sessions.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field..

  • Understanding of basic circuit design (analog and digital).

  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium).

  • Knowledge of microcontrollers and electronic components.

  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments (oscilloscope, power supply, signal generator, etc.).

  • Familiarity with embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, etc.).

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Eagerness to learn and apply new technical concepts.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
