Badger Meter is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern with a strong interest in hardware development to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in the design, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware for flow measurement and control products. The intern will work closely with a mentor and cross-functional teams on product development and sustaining engineering projects, contributing to the evolution of our embedded systems from prototype to production.
This role emphasizes hardware design and electronic testing. While some exposure to firmware may occur, the primary focus will be on transforming legacy designs and supporting new hardware initiatives.
This will be an onsite role this summer at our Racine facility (40 hours a week). We may be open to Milwaukee location for some of the internship.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies)
Support hardware testing, debugging, and failure analysis of electronic circuits and systems
Collaborate on engineering test fixture improvements and validation setups
Perform data collection and analysis to evaluate hardware performance
Participate in design reviews, verification planning, and execution of test protocols
Document findings through reports, memos, and regular updates to engineering teams
Work in various environments including electronics labs, hydro labs, and individual offices
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field (sophomores preferred)
Familiarity with digital and analog circuit design
Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer
Basic understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based hardware
Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers)
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
