Position Overview:
Beam is looking for a highly talented and motivated Analytical Development Co-op to join our growing Liver Analytical Platform team within the larger Analytical Research & Development organization from January through June 2026. The co-op will be part of a cutting-edge analytical team and will help in developing mRNA analytical methods that can be used to monitor various quality attributes, such as purity and impurity, using an array of separation techniques including but not limited to UPLC and CGE. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work closely on developing novel analytical methods for Beam’s late-stage programs aimed at making lifelong cures for patients suffering from serious diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or optimize analytical separation methods for mRNA drug substance.
- Optimize existing or newly developed methods to be applicable on mRNA-LNP drug product.
- Design, execute and document pre-qualification prior to transferring to QC labs for release testing.
- Perform data analysis, and related document writing with a critical look at the relevance of the results.
- Document all work in electronic notebooks and communicate progress in multiple forums to get team’s feedback/endorsement.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing BS or MS in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Basic understanding of biochemistry and nucleic acids with completion of laboratory courses in chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology.
- Previous experience working in a wet lab is highly desirable.
- Must be comfortable working in a high paced environment and be able to juggle multiple tasks.
- Must have strong attention to detail & willingness to learn new techniques.
- Must be able to be onsite.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program and maintain their student status throughout the duration of the co-op to be eligible.
