Summer 2026 Recruitment Timeline:   

November 10 – December 5: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume)  

Mid November – Late December: First round video interviews   

Mid – Late January: Second round interviews  

Late January – February: Selected candidates receive offers  

Summer 2026 Internship Program: 

  • Applications Close: December 5th at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!  
  • Program Dates: June 1 – August 7, 2026 
  • Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  
  • Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work in North Bergen, NJ.

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.   

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Production Services, Archives & Library: We manage all NBC News Archival content from film dating from the 1930s up to the digital recordings of today. Our responsibilities begin with adding crucial metadata to hundreds of incoming media daily. After making Editorial decisions on content retention, we Archive accordingly. We provide services to search and restore content for online use. We do this across the film, videotape, and digital content spectrum. The intern will assist with logging physical assets, restoring content for online use, logging of digital media, and supporting digital media compliance. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program. Spring 2026 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2026 internship program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week from June 1 – August 7, 2026.  
  • Must be willing to work in North Bergen, NJ. 

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Understanding of Media Screening tools. 
  • Knowledge of Videotape formats. 
  • Desire to learn more about the start to finish of Archival content. 
  • Basic understanding of how metadata enhances the search and recovery of media. 

The hourly rate for student interns is $22.00.
