Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is currently looking for a summer System Engineer Intern to support the Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Product Lines in the Precision Navigation (PNav) Systems and Software Department.  This team, based at Aberdeen Proving Ground, is responsible for the IFF System Integration and Verification Testing of Mission Critical equipment in support of Military Air Traffic Control.

The ideal candidate will be a highly enthusiastic team member excited about learning new technologies and development of IFF systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Hands-on development support of new system capabilities supporting Identification Friend or Foe systems.

  • Specific assignments will be determined based on the candidate’s background, skillset, and interests.

  • Tasks may include system test development, system integration, system performance analysis and test, or system requirements development and design support.

What You Will Learn:

  • Gain practical skills in areas like data analysis, system integration, test development, and verification processes

  • Hands-on-Experience with a variety of system engineering artifacts

  • Collaborate with a dynamic group of engineers from a variety of disciplines

  • Real world engineering experience will complement your education

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Project.

  • Must have the ability to travel on business.

  • Good grasp of engineering fundamentals and evidence of problem solving and decomposition experience

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Curiosity and ability to grasp larger system development concepts

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a structured team environment with other engineers across a variety of disciplines

  • System requirements developments, design, integration, and/or test qualification experience

  • Electrical or mechanical design experience

  • Modeling and simulation experience

  • Shell scripting experience, such as Perl, Python, etc.

  • Programming Experience

  • Demonstrated tendency to take ownership of role and responsibilities

  • Small team leadership experience

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
