Business Unit/Role Specific Info
Join American Express as a Data Analytics Intern, where you’ll support key data initiatives todeliver insights on platform resource utilization, operational performance, and cost optimization. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-level data analytics while collaborating with teams across business units, product and technology.
Our 10-week Summer Internship Program runs from June to August. This program will provide you with real, on-the-job work experience; giving you the skills and experience to help you accelerate in your studies and future career!
How will you make an impact in this role?
Assist in analyzing data to uncover trends and opportunities for improving platform usage, performance, and efficiency.
Collaborate with technology and product teams to help shape analytics solutions that enhance colleague and customer experiences.
Support the development of strategies to streamline and modernize business intelligence (BI) capabilities and data workflows.
Contribute to modernization efforts of data platforms by gathering requirements, identifying gaps, and helping document future-state architecture plans.
Partner with stakeholders to understand their data needs and help deliver actionable insights through reports, dashboards, or presentations.
Prepare and deliver communications and presentations for varied audiences, including internal stakeholders and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027
Currently enrolled in full-time Bachelor’s degree program
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills and ability to influence and engage at multiple levels and cross functionally.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Interest in modern data platforms, business intelligence, and process improvement.
Familiarity with data tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with leaders, colleagues in different time zones, and cross-functional partners to deliver value.
Strong project management skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated resilience, proactive problem solving, ‘can do’ attitude, and optimism in changing circumstances.
Comfort with challenging the status quo and driving continuous process improvement
Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
