The Opportunity 

This opportunity is for candidates who are looking for a 6-month placement starting in January 2026 and concluding in June 2026.

Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, and grid technologies, with our global power modelling and analysis capabilities, our Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables team deliver advice that inform and support our clients’ decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry. Located globally, we provide research and analysis that help our clients actively pursue the energy transition.

About the Role:

Get involved with industry-leading analyses across the energy transition spectrum, in our Power & Renewables Practice. As a co-op you’ll get the chance to:

  • Develop an understanding of energy market fundamentals to improve your analytical skills
  • Collaborate with our developers and data collection teams to help improve efficiency
  • Present the teams with research projects & presentations on relevant topics
  • Manipulate large datasets and determine correlations and relationships between potential market drivers, prices, and events
  • Use tools and models that include spatial, data visualization, and power flow applications to identify and solve problems in the power industry
  • Explore the improvement of current processes through automating critical tasks using macros (visual basic/Python)


Role hourly rate: $30

Our Requirements

You are studying towards a university degree or professional qualification in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or Energy Science.

Wood Mackenzie follows a hybrid work structure, the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office regularly to benefit from the in-person support of their team and wider colleagues.

Applicants must have the legal Right to Work in the country this role is based in. We are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for

  • Strong collaboration skills
  • The ability to creatively problem-solve
  • An analytical mind and eye for detail
  • Great written and verbal communication
  • Willingness to learn about our business from the ground up
  • Some experience in using programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, or comparable languages (desirable)
