Cencora is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Responsibility Intern to support the ESG Reporting and Operations team in advancing the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. This split-focus role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to gain hands-on experience in corporate responsibility reporting, ESG operations, and environmental sustainability, including greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting.

The Intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to support ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting, as well as contribute to sustainability strategies that align with regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations, and Cencora’s corporate vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of Cencora’s annual ESG disclosures, including voluntary and regulatory reports, aligning with key external frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, IFRS S1/S2, and TCFD).
  • Support the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG data to ensure accuracy, transparency, and alignment with reporting best practices.
  • Conduct research on global ESG regulations, reporting policies, and industry trends to inform reporting strategies (e.g., CSRD, SEC climate disclosures).
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to respond to ESG ratings, rankings, and customer inquiries, identifying opportunities to optimize performance and enhance transparency.
  • Support the development of presentations and communications for executive leadership, investors, and other key stakeholders.

Environmental Sustainability and GHG Accounting

  • Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 GHG emissions in accordance with GHG Protocol standards.
  • Support the implementation of new processes and methodologies for more efficient and accurate emissions accounting.
  • Research and recommend best practices for reducing environmental impact across Cencora’s operations and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint reduction.

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct strategic research on industry trends, best practices, and emerging regulations to support Cencora’s ESG strategies and initiatives.
  • Contribute to cross-functional ESG and sustainability projects, supporting operational efficiencies and broader business goals.
  • Assist in developing processes to streamline ESG data collection, storage, and verification for improved reporting methodologies.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, contributing ideas to support ESG and sustainability goals.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the U.S. now or in the future
  • Strong interest in ESG reporting, corporate responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
  • Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, IFRS S1/S2, TCFD) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GHG Protocol standards and emissions accounting is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and present it effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting reports and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with ESG data management systems is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Previous internship or project experience in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, or related fields is a plus.
  • Ability to be in the Conshohocken, PA office full-time for the duration of the internship.
