The Opportunity:
P&G is offering a unique opportunity for a PhD intern to join our Beauty Care team, focusing on the development of methods to characterize and assess product efficacy against scalp-relevant multispecies biofilms.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role you will focus on characterizing scalp biofilm communities. You will work on two key objectives:
1) Characterize scalp biofilm structure and composition: Utilize advanced microbiological techniques, including microscopy and molecular biology methods, to analyze the structural and compositional characteristics of scalp biofilms.
2) Develop methods to measure product efficacy against in vitro biofilm communities: Design experiments to assess the effectiveness of various hair care products against established in vitro biofilm models, providing insights into product performance.
This opportunity will provide valuable experience in microbiology, product development, and translational research, contributing to P&G's mission of delivering innovative and superior solutions for consumer health and beauty.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Working towards a PhD degree in biological science (examples include biology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry).
- Ability to work with BSL2 organisms.
- Excellent microbiology skills (sterile technique, microbial isolation and cultivation, etc.)
- Basic laboratory quantitative and digital skills for assay design and analyses of result.
- Available to work a 12-week internship from May/early June to August in the summer of 2026 at our Mason, Ohio office 5 days a week.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy.
- Experience in yeast cultivation.
- Skilled in mammalian cell culture.
- Knowledge of methods for biofilm formation and analysis.
