Walker & Dunlop’s Summer Internship Program provides a dynamic environment for students to learn aspects of the commercial real estate finance industry. Each year, W&D invites a distinguished group of interns to participate in a ten-week training and mentoring program to help build their skills and learn about the organization. Interns will play supporting and individual contributor roles and have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our business through hands-on training.

The Real Estate Finance (REF) team at Walker & Dunlop acts as an advisor on all asset classes for many of the industry’s leading developers, owners, and operators and as a trusted resource for our capital providers.  With a wide breadth of lending sources, Walker & Dunlop maintains relationships with hundreds of capital providers across the country. With proprietary insights into pricing and market movements, the REF team delivers creative financing solutions to clients across the country.

Walker & Dunlop Investment Sales (WDIS) represents the nation’s premier multifamily owners, developers, and operators with the highest level of investment advisory service. Since 2003, the WDIS Team has built a reputation as a market leader in multifamily investment sales and is active in institutional, private client, senior housing, student housing, and affordable housing sales across the country.

Core Responsibilities Across All Divisions:

  • Assist with preparing and reviewing financial models, cash flows, valuations, or underwriting analyses.

  • Collect, analyze, and organize market data, including comparable sales, rents, supply/demand trends, and pipeline activity.

  • Gather, validate, and maintain data from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Draft, proof, and assemble client-facing documents, including investment memoranda, appraisal reports, offering memorandums, broker opinions of value, and market presentations.

  • Support deal execution or appraisal processes by maintaining files, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating documentation.

  • Shadow team members, attend meetings and training, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Perform administrative tasks, audits, or other duties to support smooth team operations.

Division-Specific Responsibilities:

Real Estate Finance

  • Review leases and property documents to assess cash flow stability.

  • Research lenders and capital providers to understand lending criteria.

  • Assist in reviewing financing proposals and commitments.

  • Support identification and pursuit of new business leads.

Investment Sales

  • Analyze multifamily investment opportunities, including existing, value-add, and development projects.

  • Research, draft, and proof offering memorandums (OMs) and broker opinions of value (BOVs).

  • Assist in creating and editing market presentations.

  • Monitor deal progress, contingencies, and deadlines to ensure smooth closings.

Appraisal

  • Join certified appraisers on property inspections and assist with inspection tasks.

  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure valuation accuracy.

  • Utilize appraisal software tools (Apprise, Enodo, Valcre) to process and analyze data.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an undergraduate program at an accredited university

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.

  • Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

  • Must be able to commit to the 10-week program beginning June 1st and ending August 7th

  • Relevant work experience a plus

This position will pay $28/hour.
