Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will have the flexibility of working 2 days remotely, and 3 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year. The Application Services Engineering team is hiring for a Software Engineering intern.
The Full-Stack Software Engineering intern at Cboe will work alongside our Application Services Engineering team to support the development of a unified application and service management platform on the Cboe Data Vantage platform. This internship provides hands-on experience with full-stack development using modern technologies including .NET/C#, TypeScript, and React. You'll gain exposure to financial analytics, execution, and risk management systems that power global trading operations.
Your responsibilities and learning objectives will be:
Assist in the development of full-stack applications using C#/.NET on the backend and React/ TypeScript on the frontend supported by senior team mentors.
- Develop and ship a production feature that will continue serving the teams that build and support our products after your internship ends
- Support the implementation of REST APIs and learn about secure authentication mechanisms
- Contribute to unit testing and code quality initiatives alongside senior developers
- Learn systematic debugging techniques and best practices for resolving issues in complex financial systems
- Participate in code reviews and learn software engineering best practices
- Shadow experienced engineers working with microservices architecture and database technologies
- Learn about financial analytics, execution, and risk management systems in a trading environment
- Contribute documentation and technical specifications for ongoing projects
The ideal candidate has:
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Computer Science or related field and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.
- Foundational knowledge of software engineering data structures and algorithms
- Basic understanding of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, TypeScript)
- Experience with at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
You’ll really stand out with:
- Previous coursework or projects involving .NET/C# or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git

Our pay range for interns is determined by function and education level. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $25.00 - $36.00 per hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by years of education completed. In addition to base pay, eligibility for our total rewards program may include benefits such as 401 (k) with a generous company match and paid sick time. Your recruiter will provide more details about the total compensation package during the hiring process
