Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Team for Roll-to-Roll Equipment is responsible for leading and scaling up of manufacturing (calendering, lamination and slitting) processes for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products.
The intern supports day-to-day team operations, being involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping-out our high-throughput equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate and roll-out process.

The intern plays a key role on continuous machine improvement during all project phases and will work closely with Roll-to-Roll organizations across Germany and United States.

Job Responsibilities

Work with manufacturing, process, and equipment engineering teams to develop and set up design of experiments (DOE), as well as build and test Tesla equipment and products.
Organize and analyse data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities
Identify, address, and solve process concerns with equipment performances, reliability, efficiency, yield through modification of existing equipment, and/or design of an improved equipment
Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling and procedures
Learn how to coordinate projects
Manage projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors

Job Requirements

English fluent, both written and spoken
Preferably studying or experienced in a relevant engineering field
Sufficient knowledge in the areas of moderation and training for the introduction of processes
Skilled in the use of common MS Office applications
2D & 3D ACAD experience in creating/validating layouts, tooling drawings
Expertise in analysing problems and finding solutions in a structured manner
Analytical mindset and problem-solving orientation
Able to work in a team as well as in an organized and independent manner
Proficient in proactively improving processes and having an overview on tasks
Eager to learn
