Hourly base pay rate is $21.49 - $32.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

We are looking for a state income tax compliance intern to join our team, within the CEI Tax Department (50+ people)from May to August. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of accounting concepts and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in accounting. Our internship provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience with basic tax compliance processes and concepts in the state taxation space. The intern will work with a team of professionals to help support state tax returns filed with the various state department of revenues.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare foundational work to support approximately 500 state tax returns including work related to apportionment, modifications, NOLs, etc.
  • Document new and/or update work procedures
  • Prepare state income tax returns utilizing OneSource tax software
  • Research and generate supporting documentation for state tax issues
  • Assist with ad hoc state income tax projects, as needed

Requirements:

  • Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred completion of Intermediate Accounting and at least 1 tax course) or Master’s Degree in Taxation or Accounting   
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel)
