M&A Research/Business Development Intern 

Position Summary:

Andromeda, a market group within Constellation Software Inc., acquires, builds, and operates vertical market software companies across North America. We’re seeking a motivated M&A Intern to join our high-performing acquisitions team. 

In this role, you’ll conduct in-depth industry and company research to help identify and qualify potential acquisition targets. You’ll also play a key role in supporting our business development team by providing valuable insights that enable us to engage C-suite executives and be considered in competitive transaction situations. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on M&A experience while working alongside experienced investment and business leaders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This role is offered remotely anywhere in Canada, or on a hybrid basis for candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area. Our Toronto office is located at St. Clair and Yonge.

Job Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis

  • Do extensive industry analysis to develop industry insights such as total addressable market, market trends, and PEST, competitor, and technology workflow analyses.

  • Conduct extensive research on specific companies using Salesforce.com, Crunchbase and data sources to conduct research on potential M&A targets.

  • Complete additional research as assigned.

  • Synthesize analysis into reports and present findings to M&A team.

Business Development Support

  • Develop target list of M&A targets to maintain or contact new for the Portfolio Manager or Business Development Representative using Saleforce.com.

  • Research company, products, ownership structure and leadership team and re-qualify potential acquisition targets

  • Support Business Development Representative and Portfolio Manager with additional information to achieve pipeline goals.

  • Not only do you like research but you like to help your team. When you do your best, you help the team do their best.

  • You have familiarity with business development processes or have a strong interest in learning about M&A.

  • You are comfortable using Excel and research tools. Knowledge of Salesforce would be a plus.

Key Competencies:

Research and Analytics Acumen: Strong interest in conducting research and understanding markets and companies. Ability to self-direct and find sources of information to help you understand and tell the story. Strong ability to create reports and share the analysis you complete.

Work Ethic: Works proactively, persistently, and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Intellectual Curiosity: Able to quickly understand different business models/industries with associated benefits/risks, qualify leads by piecing together high-level qualitative and quantitative information, experiment with innovative approaches and measure results.

Financial Acumen: Educational background in business with accounting and financial knowledge/interest.

2) Investment Thesis – Briefly explain the core structural or competitive reason why this stock is undervalued or poised for long-term growth.

3) Key Catalyst – Identify the most important near-term driver (e.g., product launch, regulatory decision, margin improvement) expected to impact performance in the next 12–18 months.

4) Primary Risk/Caveat – Acknowledge one significant risk or challenge associated with the investment.
