The Data Engineering team is seeking an intern for the onsite 10-week Summer 2026 Internship Program at Live Oak Bank in Wilmington, NC.

How This Role impacts Live Oak and its People

The Data Engineer Intern will help drive strategic decisions at Live Oak Bank by working with the Data Platform teamtoprovideclean, well-organized data that supportsanalytics, reporting, and machine learning processes. Daily activities will include helping to define and then produce structured and standardized data sets that drive customer engagement and bring Live Oak’s mission to “Treat Every Customer Like The Only Customer” to life through analytics and reporting that informs next best actions. 

What You’ll Do at Live Oak

  • Discover, integrate, and standardize data from a variety of data sources.

  • Build automated data pipelines with modern data stack tooling to enable business intelligence.

  • Integrate changes with CI/CD automation to ensure system stability with complete monitoring and alerting.

  • Enable high data quality within data pipelines through data completeness and validity tests.

  • Work across engineering and analytics teams to provide up to date, meaningful data that drives decision making.

Required and Preferred Experience

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program such as Computer Science, Engineering,or other related field

  • Basic experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python), Data Querying languages (e.g., SQL)

  • Basic experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., GitLab, GitHub)

  • Strong partnership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various groups in the organization

  • Knowledge of basic statistical analysis

Preferred:

  • Experience in statistical analysis and machine learning preferred

  • Advanced degree coursework preferred

The base pay range for this position is $19.23 - $31.25 per hour. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
