Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and skilled intern to work on our flagship advanced pattern recognition, Machine Learning software, APM SmartSignal. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop an AI solution to reduce the number of unactionable alerts by recognizing known transient patterns manifesting across multiple data streams simultaneously. This work will directly contribute to improving the accuracy of our software, thereby improving outcomes for energy industry monitoring teams.
Project Outcomes:
- Develop and implement analytical models to identify and classify transient patterns in real-time equipment data.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to define and label known transient events.
- Integrate developed models with the existing monitoring platform and validate alerting improvements.
- Document methodologies, results, and software workflows to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
- Present findings and progress regularly to technical leads and stakeholders.
Primary Skills Developed:
- Build on experience in machine learning, advanced data analytics, and signal processing.
- Gain experience working with multivariate, time-series data.
- Understand the user experience and impact of AI/ML for energy industries and heavy equipment.
Internship Term Dates:
May/June - August 2026
Day/1st -Shift (40 - hours weekly)
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing an Undergrad, Masters, or Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science
Minimum GPA 4.0 / 5.0 scale.
Desired Qualifications:
Significant experience in:
Writing code in Python and/or C#
Prototyping
Data Science techniques including Machine Learning
Strong communication skills including explaining difficult concepts, meeting via video conference, reporting, and documentation

The pay for this position ranges from $21/hr-36/hr. based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.
This position is also eligible for:
Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
