The purpose of this internship is to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You will be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!
The component team supports program teams and the NPI BOM Resiliency Scorecard initiative byproviding Product Lifecycle Analysis (PLA) of supplier components with high, medium, low and unknown reports at each phase gate to enable product team to have a clean bill of health prior to product release. This comprehensive approach ensures product quality and performance. We receive Product Change Notices (PCNs) from our component suppliers of discontinued parts, that we need to research where they're used in our PLM system, then notify the engineering and ECRT teams for mitigation.
Evaluate components, subassemblies, and processes used in the design of complex products. Determine design approaches and ensure component selections meet or exceed required product specifications and tolerances. This begins with a detailed analysis of the design to ensure alternate components meet form, fit, function requirements but also perform under the expected product environment conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Work under guidance of Sr Component Engineers to learn about optimal selection of components and/or subassemblies under direction of more experienced engineers
- Interact with other engineering disciplines to define component requirements and/or modify component selections
- Documents selection of components/subassemblies to deliver required performance and compliance specifications
- Recommend alternate components for BOM Resiliency and program teams
- Observe and follows standard practice in recommending suppliers, methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to manager
- Develop planning, organizational and leadership skills
- Increase technology knowledge and skills
- Develop team-based work proficiencies
- Develop interpersonal skills to connect with day-to-day business contacts through follow up activities
THIS IS A HYBRID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN HOLTSVILLE, NY. THE EXPECTATION IS AT LEAST 3 DAYS OF IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.
Qualifications:
Required Qualificattions:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Electrical Engineering
- Must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2026-2027
- Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of electronic components
- Analytical Skills
- Interest or experience with AI tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
- Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
- Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic, and/or extracurricular experiences
- Ability to collaborate as part of a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary: USD 28.50 - USD 31.00 Hourly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
