Primary Objectives of Position:
Trans Ova Genetics – Washington is seeking 1 Professional Services intern to represent our on-farm services and help provide client satisfaction within the region. This position will entail gaining industry-leading experience with in vitro and embryo transfer procedures both on-farm and inside the laboratory through collaboration with professional services, and lab personnel, as well as network with other senior leadership across URUS. The intern will also complete a culminating project that is relevant to current interests or procedural development needs within Trans Ova.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Derive and analyze data from on-farm procedures and guided research into a selected topic for their culminating project.
- Demonstrate great knowledge regarding the scope of their project and gain the ability to go on to educate other team members (peers and senior leaders) and individuals outside of the field on their experiences and findings.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the in-vitro process and applied cattle and small ruminant reproductive processes
- Become familiar with Trans Ova’s digital platforms including Ova Drive and associated applications.
- Learn how to assist and/or independently conduct processes inside the IVF lab and on-farm with the professional services team including, but not limited to assistance with ovum pickup, oocyte searching and grading, embryo evaluation and freezing, fertilizations, and other tasks as assigned by the lab.
- Represent Trans Ova in a positive and professional manner when interacting with clients in order to provide exceptional client experiences.
- Provide detailed feedback on the summer experience throughout and at the end of their internship program
Qualifications:
- Completion of at least their sophomore year, or equivalent, of undergraduate college
- Strong background in agriculture, preferably in livestock production or pre-veterinary sciences
- Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science or equivalent experience is preferred
- Must possess a current U.S. driver’s license
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must possess excellent communication and people skills
- Willingness to learn and develop both personally and professionally
- Computer skills are required; and the ability to work independently with Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
