Schedule Details/Additional Information:

The internship will take place June 1st-August 7th 2026. Interns will be scheduled to work 20-30 hours per week, Mon-Fri business hours. This is an on-site role requiring the ability to work at locations throughout the Greater Charlotte area.

Pay Range

$20.00 - $20.00

This internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain exposure to the field of anesthesiology in a clinical setting. Interns will observe anesthesia procedures, assist with pre- and post-operative patient care, and support administrative and research functions within the department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Shadow anesthesiologists during surgical procedures and patient consultations.
  • Assist with patient monitoring setup and documentation under supervision.
  • Observe and learn about anesthesia protocols, medication administration, and safety practices.
  • Support data collection and analysis for quality improvement or research initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and educational sessions on anesthesia techniques and patient care.
  • Help maintain equipment and supplies in operating and recovery rooms.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all clinical safety standards.
  • Gain firsthand exposure to anesthesia practices and perioperative care.
  • Understand the role of anesthesiologists in surgical and procedural settings.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of pharmacology, patient monitoring, and clinical decision-making.
  • Build professional relationships with medical staff and gain insight into career paths in anesthesiology.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.


Education Required:

Currently enrolled with a junior or senior status in a Bachelor's program in Biology, Pre-Med, or a related field with a strong interest in anesthesiology, surgery, and clinical medicine.
 

Experience Required:

  • No experience required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Current enrollment with junior status at a regional accredited college or university. Interns are expected to be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree
  • Grade point average of at least 2.5.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully completing tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
