Software Application Engineer Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Software Application Engineer Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.

As a Software Application Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

• Supporting SEL’s software development and lifecycle process

• Verifying that software meets requirements.

• Support software product management, including technical support and content creation

• Providing support to engineering staff as needed.

• Following engineering quality assurance procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• You are a current student pursuing a degree in engineering or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed.

• You have a desire to participate in technical marketing and sales activities

• You are able to execute and document defined testing procedures.

• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

• You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

• You are able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

• Background check results satisfactory to SEL

• Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

• General knowledge of the electric power system industry

• General knowledge of product lifecycle management

• Experience using scripting languages or programming languages, such as Python, Javascript, Perl, Ruby, C#, C++, Java.
