CIBC’s Summer Internship Program is a dynamic, 10–12-week experience (June through August) designed to complement your academic training and support your career aspirations. Centered around the core theme of Learn, Connect, Grow, the program offers a comprehensive blend of opportunities to expand your skills and professional network.

As an Information Security Intern, you will:

Learn through hands-on assignments supporting the Information Security team in safeguarding CIBC’s digital assets, identifying risks, and contributing to the bank’s cybersecurity initiatives.

Assist in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents.

Support vulnerability assessments and risk management activities.

Help prepare and deliver security awareness communications and training materials.

Participate in projects focused on improving security controls and processes.

Build automation use cases using Python and AI to support the Process Enhancements within the team.

Connect by networking across the bank, engaging with employees and fellow interns, and meeting with our executive leadership team.

Collaborate with team members, business partners, and clients to support security initiatives.

Gain exposure to various lines of business and functional groups within CIBC.

Grow through mentorship, leadership support, and community outreach, while developing both soft and hard skills essential for your future career.

Receive guidance from experienced leaders.

Develop your technical, analytical, and communication skills in a dynamic environment.

Who You Are

3.0 GPA minimum.

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.

Currently a junior or senior majoring in Information Security, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Strong teamwork and partnership mindset.

Thoroughness in execution and follow-through.

Forward-thinking and strategic approach to problem-solving.

Adaptability and agility in dynamic situations.

Resourceful and demonstrates ownership.

Technical Proficiency:

Proficient in Python, Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Familiarity with security tools and concepts (e.g., vulnerability assessment tools, incident response platforms) is an asset.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected hourly rate of $25.00 per hour for the State of Illinois market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our intern's needs; including 401(k) contribution, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave and Vacation), and Holidays, in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
