As a Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter, you will play a crucial role in increasing awareness of about the Peace Corps mission and the valuable experience gained by becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer. You’ll engage and inspire students by delivering engaging presentations to classes and clubs, hosting informational tables in high-traffic campus areas and career fairs, and organizing and leading workshops to help students navigate the decision-making and application process. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining partnerships with key campus stakeholders, take student appointments, and create a supportive network for prospective volunteers.
You’ll be expected to assess and adapt strategies to increase student engagement, utilizing critical thinking to identify the most effective approaches for different audiences. You will also solve challenges that arise during recruitment efforts and event planning. You will leverage digital tools and platforms to manage outreach efforts, create engaging presentations, and organize virtual events. Proficiency in using social media, video conferencing software, Handshake, Microsoft Outlook, and other technology platforms is essential to reach a broader audience effectively and maintain a balanced schedule.
The ideal candidate must be a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, have international service, and be a great communicator who feels confident with public speaking and conducting one-on-one appointments with students. You thrive working independently and collaboratively, are prompt with your follow-through, appreciate and work well in a fast paced environment. You will ensure that all outreach efforts are accessible and welcoming to students of different backgrounds. You’ll actively seek to understand and integrate a variety of perspectives into your recruitment strategies, ensuring that Peace Corps opportunities are presented in a way that resonates with all students.

Essential Duties:
- Distribute Peace Corps-approved brochures, posters, visual aids, and other Peace Corps recruitment materials to individuals, groups, associations, faculty, and targeted populations.
- Complete class, department, and group presentations.
- Develop and deliver presentations and workshops aimed at a broad student population on campus.
- Complete application and resume workshops, which coincide with Peace Corps application deadlines each year.
- Staff recruitment tables at major University events.
- Organize and facilitate retention events (examples: send-off or welcome back events, friends and family events, Peace Corps celebration week events, and/or returned volunteer panels.
- Hold both virtual and on-campus office hours each week to meet with potential and current applicants.
- Digitally collect leads at events, or as directed by the VRS representative, and maintain ASU records of leads.
- Input partnership information, meetings, and other pertinent information into specific Peace Corps systems, or as directed by the VRS representative, and maintain ASU records.
- Meet and advise applicants and lead goals set by the Peace Corps.
- Write and submit monthly, mid-year, and final reports.
- Complete mandatory Peace Corps trainings.
- Respond to Peace Corp and staff in a timely manner, as well as attend regularly scheduled meetings initiated by the Peace Corps.
- Attend Career Services meetings and trainings
Work schedule and location: Career Services serves students and recent grads virtually, in the office and at events during the timeframe of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Additional opportunities to assist with division wide, and ASU initiatives such as Fall Welcome, Family Weekend and Homecoming. A specific work schedule will be arranged with supervisor upon hire for 20 hours a week. This position is primarily based on ASU’s Tempe Campus and you may be required to travel to different ASU campuses for above essential duties.
This Internship program is a short term-position of a 12-month experience or less. An additional one-year extension may be offered contingent upon an annual review. Candidate is required to be enrolled in a Graduate Program during the duration of employment and continuation of employment will be based on enrollment in a Graduate Program.
Desired Qualifications:
- Must be an enrolled ASU graduate student during the course of employment
- Must be a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer enrolled at Arizona State University
- Strong professional presence with the ability to represent Career Services and the Peace Corps in a polished and effective manner.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and departments across a university setting.
- Experience designing and delivering engaging presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency in computer applications and systems, with the ability to enter, review, and retrieve data accurately; comfortable with extended screen time and use of keyboard/mouse.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to support data-driven decision making.
- Experience in researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs or initiatives.
- Budget management skills, including budget creation and expense monitoring.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to achieving shared goals and objectives.
Working Environment:
Most work activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Salary: $20.75 per hour
