Serves as an electrician apprentice. Installs, troubleshoots, services, and repairs low voltage electrical systems associated with interior distribution. Tasks are routine and require some organizational skills.
Duties\:
- Installs switches, receptacles, fuses, and breakers.
- Installs and repairs incandescent and fluorescent light fixtures. Logs in location, type, and number of bulbs used.
- Cuts, threads, and bonds conduit. Assembles and replaces conduit, conduit fittings, junction boxes, and supports.
- Examines electrical equipment and systems for damages, corrosion, and operation.
- Aids in setting power poles and guy wires.
- Uses common hand tools, tubing, conduit benders, hand and motor operated conduit threading machines, soldering irons, and hand drills.
- Locates and repairs electrical wiring faults.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education\: High school diploma, GED; AND
- 12 months electrical experience.
Skills\:
- Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
- Ability to use tools or equipment in a manner requiring competence
- Performs simple recordkeeping operations
Department Preferences\:
- Vo-Tech or Trade School Certification preferred
Certifications\:
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date
Physical Requirements\:
- Ability to exert strength when aiding in setting power poles and guy wires.
- Lifting heavy objects (minimum seventy-five pounds).
- Using wrists, hands, and fingers for repeated and intricate motions.
- Frequently standing, bending, and stooping often and for long periods.
- Working for prolonged periods with arms overhead.
- Hauling tools and equipment up to and/or in excess of fifty pounds up and down ladders and stairs.
- Working around both electric and mechanical safety hazards.
- Occasional exposure to fumes and odors.
- May be designated as an "essential position" during emergency closures.
- May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
