About the Role & Program
Step into the fast-paced world of merchandise planning! As a Merchandise Planning Intern, you’ll dive headfirst into hands-on projects, sharpening your analytical skills as you help shape assortment strategies designed to maximize sales and drive results. This role isn’t just about crunching numbers—you’ll collaborate closely with planners and cross-functional teams, learning the art and science behind creating winning product mixes. The intern will report to the Manager, Merchandise Planning.
This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in Orlando, FL, from January 2026 to June 2026.
What You Will Do
You’ll assist with quarterly and annual assortment planning, analyze item and category performance, and identify stock issues. Working with the Planner, you’ll communicate solutions and help launch products. Day-to-day tasks also include supporting special projects and handling routine analysis to help the team maximize sales and minimize risks.
On any given day, you might:
Review weekly sales and share recommendations to boost business
Communicate assortment changes to guide future orders
Work with a Merchandise Assistant to ensure product launches are on schedule and report any issues
Coordinate with Location Strategy & Allocation to verify that in-stock items are set up and selling in all locations
Help prepare presentations for leadership on program results and strategies
Manage planning tasks like updating locations, changing set/exit dates, revising POs, handling RTVs, and price changes
Visit stores regularly to spot ways to improve performance with assortment changes
Required Qualifications & Skills
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, Business Objects, and Oracle Retail platforms
Proven ability in data mining, financial analysis, and interpreting complex information
Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal, for effective collaboration with team members and partners
Exceptional attention to detail and proactive follow-through on projects and tasks
Skilled at managing multiple priorities and thriving in a fast-paced environment
Strategic, solutions-oriented thinker with a track record of meeting challenging deadlines
Education
Junior or Senior year preferred
Major or previous coursework in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Merchandise Planning, Industrial Engineering, or a related major preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application posting, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Disney College Program
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines while at work
Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2026 - June 2026
Fully available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 per week) and have a consistent, reliable work schedule for the duration of the internship
Transportation: Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Orlando, Florida area
