Gearboxes Repair Technician Apprentice will be involved and trained in Mechanical disassembly, inspection and assembly of Wind Gearboxes.
In this 1 year apprenticeship you will acquire knowledge in the following areas:
- Exchange Bearings and gears as per engineering drawings and remanufacturing specifications
- Be able to perform standard mechanical assembly procedures, perform rework, and repair of gearbox components and systems to drawing specifications Downtower in the repair shop or Uptower in the Wind Turbine.
- Repair and Assembly of WTG 750KW, 1.5/1.6MW and 2.x MW turbines.
- Maintain proper handling of GE tools and equipment.
- Possess thorough knowledge and ability to use all tools associated with assembling units according to required specifications:
- lifting equipment, wall and overhead cranes
- Hydraulic and electric Torque tools
- Specific hydraulic pullers for disassembly operations
- Other Tools included but not limited to impact drills, magnetic drills, drill press, angle grinders, sanders, basic hand tools (manual and pneumatic)
- Measurement Tools, calibers, oil flushing equipment.
- Read and understand mechanical layout, engineering drawings
- Follow all EH&S guidelines and policies
- Follow good environmental practices and waste management procedures. Segregate waste in the pertinent containers at the Repair Hall.
- Mechanical or Electrical School Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Wind Gearbox Repair Shop
- Certified in the use of lifting equipment, such as overhead and wall cranes, as well as lifting methods and practices by using appropriate slings, chains, hooks, etc..
In addition you will be:
- Trained on Bearings assembly practices, including clearance and preload calculation.
- Trained in the use of sealing and adhesives for bearings assembly
- Trained in hoses manufacturing and testing.
- Training on tightening practices and tools.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Elegible to Contrato en Prácticas within1 year student program in cooperation with Salesianos Loyola School in Aranjuez
