This position is for a Design Engineering Spring (January start)and Summer (early August end) Co-op, working in our Gearboxes and Starters team. You would need to take the spring semester off. Checks completed layouts, communicates with other engineering personnel, resolves design problems, designs new products, maintains existing products, resolves difficult design problems, and supports test procedures. This role is onsite, Rockford, IL. This role may be eligible for relocation.
What You Will Do:
- You will review completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- You will communicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion.
- You will support a Design lead in the creation and review of components, calculates stack-up of detail components, and performs analysis to substantiate model and print definition.
- You will resolve design problems of difficult scope to ensure project completion. Engage with manufacturing and engineering counterparts to collaborate on production problem solving opportunities.
- You will develop data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
- You will investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
What You Will Learn:
- You will learn design inputs and outputs of power transmission aircraft systems, specifically gearboxes and turbine driven products.
- You will learn professional conduct in a dynamic exciting engineering environment.
- You will be exposed to shop floor (assembly and test), product introduction design phase, and field tasks such as investigations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Enrolled in accredited Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing techniques is preferred.
- Aerospace and Industrial Power Transmission systems focus is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
