Michigan Millers is seeking a Summer 2026 Claims Intern to join the team in our Lansing office!

This role provides an opportunity to develop and grow real-world insurance skills and knowledge, assist with a variety of projects, and make connections with the Claims team.

Intern Program Summary:
Michigan Millers and Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our Claims team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Requirements

Position Summary:

As our Claims Intern, you will:

• Learn how to research and confirm coverage for all types of auto and property claims.
• Learn the importance of claim documentation and data reporting.
• Learn how to properly investigate a claim using communication and listening skills, witness information, online research tools, and/or vendor services. 
• Learn how to use your investigation to assess compensability.
• Learn to read, review, and pay estimates and vendor bills.
• Learn how to set and modify reserves on a claim.
• Learn the importance of offering superior customer service.
• Assist with various projects as assigned.
• Shadow other positions within the company to learn more about careers within the insurance industry.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Completed two years of college preferred.
• Willingness to help with a variety of tasks from data collection, entry, customer relations, claims resolution, and everything in between.
• Proven time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and establish/meet deadlines.
• Superior customer service.
• Professional communication skills.
• An understanding of technology solutions.
• Expected on-site in the Lansing office 5 days/week.

Compensation overview

The base pay offered for this position will be $19.00/hour.
