The Fraud Investigation team’s mission is to ensure Robinhood customers have swift identification and resolution of fraud-related issues. We do this by interacting with customers when their accounts encounter fraud, placing temporary restrictions on accounts if needed, investigating customer-surfaced and RH-identified fraud, communicating in a timely manner, and efficiently restoring and remediating accounts to their pre-fraud status. We train and employ skilled and knowledgeable investigators, deliver consistent and high-quality support, and minimize impact from fraud losses to protect our customers and our company's financial health.
As a Fraud Operations Intern, you will conduct an end-to-end fraud investigation of accounts that have any concerns of fraud, with the ultimate goal of protecting our customers and minimizing fraud exposures to the firm. As a Fraud Investigator Intern you will be responsible for reviewing fraud alerts, determining fraud or no-fraud and help identify emerging fraud trends through data analysis.
This role is based in our Denver office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do
- Review and investigate suspected fraudulent alerts that are proactive and reactive in nature, using multiple internal and external tools
- Use data analysis techniques, critical thinking, and pattern detection to discover proactive ways to identify emerging fraud
- Recognize and actively communicate emerging fraud trends and detection methodologies
- Document the rationale and determination for each alert and submit referrals to other teams within RH where necessary
- Assist the team with coordination and prioritization of various ongoing daily tasks, queue management, and other ad-hoc requests
- Occasionally communicate with the customer regarding information on their account(s) related to a fraud investigation
What you bring
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program in Business, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Psychology or a related field with an expected graduation date in Winter 2026/Spring 2027
- Interest in fraud investigations end-to-end process and various fraud typologies such as Account Takeovers, Identity Theft and Money Movement Fraud among others
- Proactively identify problems and devise solutions (think outside-the-box) and independently make decisions on potentially fraudulent cases
- Ability to operate in a fast paced environment
- Good written and verbal communication, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail
- Strong social skills, experience working with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, legal, compliance, vendor partners, or financial crimes
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service and ability to multi-task

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected hourly range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
