Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Spring 2026 TDS Cell & Gene Therapy Development Analytical Development (AD) Co-Op, located in Malvern, PA.

Research & Development Co-op Overview:

J&J R&D encompasses the development of sophisticated materials, process improvements, risk management and mechanical testing through the development process across all sectors including Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Consumer and Corporate/Enterprise.

Life as an R&D Co-op:

The R&D Co-op program provides each student with real-life hands-on experience, coaching and mentoring, networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. Each Co-op will be assigned to a single function with a specific project for the 6-month term.

The typical Co-op term is from Jan 2026– Jun 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

The Cell and Gene Therapy group in Analytical Development in TDS at Johnson&Johnson-Innovative Medicine is rapidly expanding the CAR-T portfolio and requires creative solutions for cell material inventory and management for efficient workflows in the Advance Therapies labs. Establishing an Inventory Management System will allow stakeholders and lab personnel to tract inventory, replenish inventory and track usage. This project will aid the Flow Method Development team to create the interface to users in an easy to manage the daily transactions as well as historical data. It will also help with the management of reports like monthly inwards, monthly deliveries and monthly usage. This project will maintain the centralized database so that any changes made are reflected immediately. This will be an online tool in SharePoint so more than one user can into the folder and use the tool simultaneously.  The aim of this application is to reduce the manual effort needed to manage transactions and historical data used by various lab personnel. Also, this Inventory will provide an interface for users to view the details like the daily stock of critical reagents and qualified cell materials. Co-op will:

  • Interact with the lab personnel and assess the current inventory system,

  • Will create a centralized sample inventory management system,

  • Will draft a requirements specification document for the template of the inventory layout,

  • Analyze, design and implement the inventory management interface,

  • Test the centralized inventory system,

  • Carry out further cycles of revision and iterations,

  • Once the design is ready the implementation and testing strategy will be introduced to users by training them

  • Collect feedback from user based on the functional and non-functional requirements.    

Qualifications

Education:

  • Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and related majors are preferred.

  • Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of a co-op assignment pursuing a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience, Master’s, or PhD degree or equivalent experience. For students pursuing their Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Juniors or Seniors are preferred.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshmen year at an accredited University is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Candidate must have prior lab experience and demonstrated expertise in cell culture.

  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., FI, H1-B status)

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills is required

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills are preferred

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives while performing results

  • Must be a self-starter works independently while supplying to the team goals

  • Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or community service activities is desired

Preferred:

  • Students with basic laboratory skills and experience in research, experimental design & execution, and data analysis preferred.
