We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern Analyst to join our Information Technology team, with a focus on Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) used in clinical settings. This internship provides hands-on experience in healthcare IT, supporting systems that facilitate lab testing for both inpatients and patients referred from physician practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day support and troubleshooting of LIS applications and related tools.
  • Collaborate with IT, Lab, and Clinical teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and uptime.
  • Participate in system testing, validation, and documentation of workflows and configurations.
  • Provide Tier 2 ticket triage support using the organization’s IT Service Management (ITSM) platform, escalating issues as needed.
  • Gain exposure to clinical workflows, lab operations, and data integration processes.
  • Help troubleshoot and monitor interfaces and data exchanges between LIS and downstream systems such as: 
    • Electronic Health Records (EHR)
    • Billing and coding systems
    • Cancer registries
    • Middleware (e.g., device interfaces, stainers, analyzers)
  • Assist in identifying and escalating integration issues, working with vendors and internal teams to resolve them.

  • Learn about HL7 messaging, interface engines, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Gain insight into project lifecycle management in a healthcare IT environment.
  • Develop skills in technical documentation, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in healthcare technology and clinical systems.
  • Basic understanding of databases, networking, or system integration is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a public or private College/University, and be in good academic standing at their institution
  • Must be committed to completing the duration of the internship from June 2026- August 2026
  • Work 37.5 hours per week and commit to a minimum of 375 hours for the duration of the internship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
