Geotab is seeking a Competitive Intelligence and Market Research Intern who will assist the team with research projects on emerging trends, products and competitors, sharing acquired knowledge with internal teams to ensure strategic decisions and positioning. What you'll do:
As a Competitive Intelligence and Market Research Intern your key area of responsibility will be assisting with performing market analysis on emerging trends and competitors including new market presence, expansion of capabilities, market news as well product positioning of competitors. You will also support the collection of relevant data from various sources, such as industry reports, market research studies, news articles, social media, and competitor websites. This is done by utilizing both primary and secondary research methods to gather information. You will need to work closely with Geotab Product, Product Marketing, Sales and Marketing teams.
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate findings to key stakeholders. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical skills to complete research and analysis of data on Geotab’s market and competitor with an ability to identify key insights for internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
The opportunity:
- 8 - 12 month work-term, beginning January 2026.
- Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

How you'll make an impact:
- Assist the team with research projects on emerging trends, products and competitors, sharing acquired knowledge with internal teams to ensure strategic decisions and positioning.
- Assist with performing market analysis on emerging trends and competitors including new market presence, expansion of capabilities, new partnerships and product portfolio and positioning.
- Collect relevant data from various sources, such as industry reports, market research studies, news articles, social media, and competitor websites. Utilize both primary and secondary research methods to gather information.
- Assist with developing industry and vertical overviews and identifying future market opportunities to help inform product portfolio prioritization, product positioning and GTM strategies.
- Work with the team to help identify existing portfolio gaps against future market opportunities and communicate observations to Product & Product Marketing on a regular basis.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Completing a Masters, Post-Graduate or in their final year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Economics/Business or a related field.
- 0-1 years of experience in market intelligence assessing companies / industries by collecting and analyzing data to support strategic decisions.
- Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.
- Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
