Software Engineering Intern

MasterControl is seeking a Software Engineer Intern, currently a student at Northeastern University, to join one of our Application Teams. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for working on technical implementation, in coordination with Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and the Dev Team.

Qualifications

  • In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • One or more of the following: Java, JEE, SQL, Windows, Software Security, OOA/OOD, Spring, Kafka

Responsibilities

  • Engage with your team, participate in code reviews, follow best practices, and consistently strive to learn and contribute to ongoing projects.
  • Design, implement and operate high-quality core services and solutions.
  • Resolve production issues in conjunction with technical support.
  • Be customer-focused, with a high emphasis on quality in execution.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of object-oriented languages and frameworks.
  • Strong experience in developing software in Java.
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and data structures.
  • Experience in Java Spring Boot applications.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Basic understanding of event-driven design.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and drive to create exceptional applications.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Positive attitude with a penchant for collaboration and respect.

Nice-to-haves 

  • Experience in SQL, JPA, and Hibernate  
  • Experience in GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Kafka

The US base hourly range for this  position is $30.00 - $50.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, education and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
