Noble Consulting Overview:

As part of the KSM family, Noble Consulting Services, Inc. is a nationwide consulting firm based in Indianapolis providing a full range of services to insurance regulators. Through our deep experience as former regulators, big-4 managers, and insurance industry professionals, as well as highly motivated recent graduates, we are recognized for our understanding of the insurance industry, regulatory environment, and emerging challenges.We serve regulators throughout the nation who trust us in both routine and unique situations.

Position Summary:

A Staff Examiner Intern will learn and participate in risk-focused statutory examinations through working directly with seasoned professionals.  Experiences include exposure to both large and small insurance companies including property and casualty, life, health, and long term care.  Annual training is provided for both industry specific and specialized areas such as information technology, investments, and reinsurance.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Gain an understanding of the Risk Focused approach.

  • Gain an understanding of statutory accounting.

  • Become efficient in using TeamMate and other tools utilized in examinations.

  • Perform tasks assigned.

Service clients

  • Be professional both on site and near the company.

  • Understand the expectations of your supervisor and other team members.

  • Provide supervisor with regular status updates and areas in which further instruction is needed.

Monitor and meet budgets

  • Work with supervisor to understand timelines and budgets.

  • Perform within established budgets and schedules.

  • Provide supervisor advance notice when areas are near completion.

Ensure quality of work product

  • Understand the project and your responsibilities.

  • Communicate ideas for potential improvements. 

  • Communicate with supervisor potential issues.

  • Add value to the project and assist specialists and other team members as needed.

Expand business and/or network 

  • Participate in meetings, lunches, and dinners when included if possible.

  • Learn key contacts and companies and departments associated with projects.

Personal Development

  • Participate in 360 reviews with Noble staff and project debriefing. 

  • Ensure you receive evaluations as per Noble Consulting policy. 

  • Embrace opportunities to expand responsibility.

  • Obtain designations necessary for advancement.

  • Expand knowledge of insurance industry and the framework of the insurance regulation.

Deliver conclusions and work product

  • Communicate throughout engagement.

  • Provide conclusions in work performed. 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, risk management, economics, or information science

  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Willing to travel

  • Detail-oriented
