Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Orange, California
This position is expected to begin in June 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment, water quality improvement, and stormwater management projects for a variety of clients.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Carry out engineering analyses, prepare reports and technical specifications, under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collect and analyze data, perform field work, undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
- Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least two years. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrate growth potential as well as desire to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, ArcMap, or other engineering software packages
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
- Documents time and effort accurately
- Interest in water/wastewater infrastructure design and a willingness to travel and work in the field as needed
