The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) lab is a world-class, full-service, 18,000 sqft (and growing) Environmental Qualification Test Lab located in Cedar Rapids, IA capable of creating nearly any environment required in the avionics industry. While EEE reports up through Mission Systems, we support all testing for Collins Aerospace and Raytheon Technologies as needed. EEE services not only include a full suite of Climatics, Dynamic, EMI, EMC, Lightning, and TEMPEST test capabilities, but our industry experts also offer design support, analysis, test failure troubleshooting, root cause analyses, and much more.
What You Will Do:
- Serve project as the mechanical focal point for all manufacturing assessments and testing support including:
- Design and manufacture EMI/EMC troubleshooting solutions utilizing additive manufacturing.
 - Validation of mechanical portions of all laboratory test setups, additive manufacturing techniques and materials/process selection.
 - Documentation support including:
- Procedures, methods and guidelines for additive manufacturing processes.
 - Process flow documentation.
 
 - Interface with project engineers, as necessary, to support project activities
 
 - Provide general laboratory support.
- When available, learn about general laboratories activities and other support test efforts.
 
 
What You Will Learn:
- Fundamentals of mechanical engineering design for EMI/EMC qualification testing.
 - Aerospace industry additive manufacturing techniques.
 - How to utilize 3D CAD modeling, commercial and industrial additive manufacturing, electroplating, and design for EMI/EMC environments to rapidly prototype troubleshooting solutions.
 - Opportunities to learn about Environmental Effects Engineering and other qualification testing.
 
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
 - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
 
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience creating detailed 3D models of mechanical designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
 - Experience with Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers and 3D printer slicer software.
 - Basic knowledge of composite materials or polymers. Ideally, thermoplastic printer filaments.
 - Experience with aerospace qualification testing standards is a bonus (DO-160; MIL-STD)

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
