Our Smart Buildings help to create efficient, safe, adaptable, and responsible environments. Our goal is to turn building data into intelligence that yield building owners and service teams with informed recommendations to improve building performance. We strive to reduce energy usage and improve HVAC equipment and system reliability.

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Summer 2026 Smart Building Internship Program as an IT Center of Competence Intern beginning in May 2026. This role is based in Austin, Texas.

This Smart Building Internship will allow aspiring students to work in our IT Center of Competence, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams tackling various tasks for top-tier customers. Interns will have a unique chance to immerse yourself in both operational technologies and information technologies. You will be working alongside multiple teams to design and implement environments that support a more sustainable future. You’ll make an impact by:
  • Participating in security configurations and hardening best practices for industrial operational technologies.
  • Contributing to updating organizational security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Participating and collaborating with IT leaders to implement solutions for various building, campus, and smart city technologies.
  • Supporting gaps assessments and IT\OT managed service activities.
  • Supporting network and compute infrastructure life cycle management program including obsolesces, security, and sustainability best practice.
  • Participating in complex designs to gain knowledge on contract and engineering specifications.
  • Helping research and document emerging sustainable practices in OT/IT asset management (e.g., energy efficiency, responsible disposal).
  • Assisting in maintaining asset inventories, vendor roadmaps, and technology refresh schedules.
  • Support obsolescence tracking and risk management, identifying aging assets and evaluating replacement/upgrade paths.
  • Evaluating new features and technologies for industrial networks and computer environments (e.g., improved resiliency, remote monitoring).
  • Supporting cross-functional teams in aligning OT/IT upgrades with sustainability goals, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2026.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week internship.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Austin, TX or Bee Cave, TX with access to a reliable vehicle, as this role does not provide transportation, housing, or relocation support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of computers and networking – Fortinet NSE preferred.
  • Ability to assemble information for presentations and project deliverables.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Power App, SharePoint, and Power Automate.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Interest in sustainability, cyber security, and industrial modernization.
  • Familiarity with concepts like patch management, system hardening, and virtualization is a plus.

You’ll Benefit From
 The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
 Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
