2026 Data Engineer Intern Overview:

We are looking for smart, ambitious, problem solvers who want to start a career in Data Engineering and help AbbVie make a remarkable impact on peoples’ lives.  This role will work in a collaborative and Agile environment to design and build data centric solutions.  The solutions aim to help compliantly educate physicians on AbbVie’s approved products to help them make the most informed treatment decision for patients.  This will involve combining multiple internal and external data sets.  

The Data Engineer will work collaboratively, as part of an Agile team, with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Marketing, and other business functions to imagine, design, build, and enhance the models.  The work will be fast paced, dynamic, and afford many learning opportunities.  The Data Engineer will be responsible to on-board, consolidate, cleanse, and structure data for efficient use in reports and analytical applications.  To be successful, candidates must be efficient in programming languages like Java, Python, R, and SQL.  A successful candidate must also understand and be able to apply data lake and relational database concepts.  There is also an opportunity to learn and work with other, cloud, based technologies like AWS, SnowFlake, Informatica, and more. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Engineering or other related field 

  • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship  

  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027 

  • Programming Languages: Java or Python 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to database and programming 

  • Java, Python, R, and SQL.   

  • Ability to understand and apply data lake and relational database concepts.   

  • Ability to learn and work with cloud, based technologies like AWS, SnowFlake, Informatica,
