Job Description

Primary Function of Position

We are seeking a Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering student interested in a summer internship focused on manufacturing engineering in support of Intuitive’s da Vinci surgical robotic systems.  Intuitive is ramping up the production of our Peachtree Corners, GA surgical robotic systems manufacturing facility. This position will be a key member of the manufacturing engineering team that will support developing and improving our manufacturing lines. You will get hands on experience supporting a medical device production line, including identifying and implementing build process improvements, developing, building and validating equipment, and writing manufacturing process instructions.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform engineering tasks and problem-solving activities related to medical device manufacturing and surgical robotic systems
  • Design, qualify, document, and introduce production assembly fixtures and equipment
  • Provide technical support analyzing and/or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components and assemblies
  • Participate in yield improvement and capacity enhancement initiatives
  • Perform engineering tests per protocol
  • Perform documentation activities
  • Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, product development, planning, purchasing, regulatory, inspection, customer support, and clinical marketing organizations

University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.

Required Education and Training 

  • Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
