None/Not RequiredThe Electrical Engineer Co-op will work at the Melbourne, FL facility for the Summer and Fall semesters of 2025. This position is for an Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering student interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing. The selected candidate will work in a cross-functional team that applies manufacturing concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes. The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills that is willing to learn and has the ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
What You Will Do:
Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in a manufacturing environment. Acts as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to designs to improve manufacturability.
Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns. Frequent use of general/technical knowledge and industry/functional practices, techniques and standards.
Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.
Supports Lean/Six Sigma initiatives including 5S, Waste Reduction, and Flow Improvements.
Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.
Determines proper flow and sequence of material for efficient build process
Eliminate/reduce defects and improve test yields. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
