If you are a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Student looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced CNC machining environment, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elyria, OH location, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support and improve our manufacturing processes, and production efficiency. This position provides exposure to a variety of engineering tasks that directly impact operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
 
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Review CNC machining and assembly processes to identify process improvements and areas for optimization.
  • Support manufacturing engineers with data analysis, project execution, and problem-solving efforts.
  • Build and configure CNC tool assemblies and associated Tool Sheets to support machining operations.
  • Develop and update manufacturing process work instructions to ensure standardized production methods.
  • Digitize existing CNC machining fixtures by creating 3D SolidWorks models where none currently exist.
  • Design machining and assembly fixtures and processes to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Conduct time studies on various manufacturing processes to analyze cycle times and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support the creation of preventative maintenance procedures and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) checklists to support high machine reliability
  • Facilitate and support Lean/5S events to enhance workplace organization and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to document technical information clearly.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role 
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Sophomore or higher-class status
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
