Your work environment:

Are you ready to tackle the transport challenges of the 21st century? As a Intern Civil Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in creating greener, cleaner, and more inclusive transport systems across Ireland and beyond. We're on the lookout for passionate and driven individuals eager to contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team that works seamlessly across our national business.

By combining traditional engineering and new innovative technologies, our teams make journeys easier, safer, and more reliable while supporting a greener and more productive society. Our work spans the full transport ecosystem across Bridges & Civils, Highways, Rail, and local transport projects. You'll feel a sense of pride working with our clients and shaping the future of transportation in Ireland.

By joining our Intern Programme, you'll become part of a respected team with a stellar reputation in the engineering and planning sectors. Gain hands-on experience working on a wide range of transport systems—including active travel, public transport, and highways—while shaping policies, strategies, and projects that improve travel for everyone.

Your purpose:

  • Engineering design of roads, greenways and active travel facilities.
  • Computer aided modelling (including BIM)(utilising software such as Revit, Civil 3D).
  • Drawing preparation and presentation (using software such as AutoCAD).
  • Site visits and surveys.
  • Technical report writing (including feasibility studies and design reports).
  • Design calculations.
  • Collaborating in complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams across Ireland, the UK and worldwide.
  • Creating vibrant, connected, and resilient places for communities that enhance quality of life.

What you can bring:

  • On track to achieve a minimum Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent accredited engineering discipline).
  • A passion for producing high-quality work and making a meaningful impact on society.
  • Championing a culture where everyone belongs.
  • A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.
  • Motivation to achieve professional accreditation.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a consultancy environment, following a hybrid schedule that typically includes at least three days per week in the office or on client sites, with the remaining days worked remotely, depending on project needs. (Being together in person helps us build stronger relationships, collaborate more effectively, and accelerate your learning and development.).

Training and development:

Our intern programme is designed to give you an insight into many areas of work, and the chance to explore where your own skills and interests lie.

From day one, you'll work on real projects that offer scale and variety, collaborating with colleagues and creating meaningful impact on the world around us.

We're proud to have been an Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited employer since 2021. This means you'll be supported by a true learning and development organization dedicated to your future.

Our deadline for applications is Sunday, 4th January 2026.  However, as our intern development programmes are incredibly popular we recommend that you apply early as some roles may close sooner.
