POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION: 

Required:

  • Current Undergraduate Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0

Preferred:

  • Be a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program  
  • Have prior school or work experience in finance, accounting, or business   
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook)  
  • Have previous experience working in a team-oriented setting including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.    
  • Previous experience in the Sherwin-Williams Corporate Finance Internship Program 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours/week throughout the school year with flexibility for exams and school projects
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age   
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.   

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  •  Work with minimal supervision and maintain due date calendar

Preferred:

  • Desire to learn diverse accounting and tax skills in corporate environment 
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and maintain organization 
  • Demonstrates excellent skills in oral and written communication 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS                                  

  • International Tax compliance with a focus on Canada and Caribbean

    • VAT Tax

    • Sales & Use Tax

    • Income Tax

    • Withholding Tax

    • Payroll Tax

    • Releasing Inventory Shipments

  • Balance Sheet account reconciliations and corresponding general ledger account entries.

  • Assist with the completion of responses to inquiries, data requests, audits, and proposed adjustments received from International Tax authorities.

  • Work to ensure paper file returns from foreign subsidiaries are scanned into the network drive and appropriately maintained for U.S. documentation purposes.
