POSITION SUMMARY
The BorgWarner Information Technology Intern Program is designed to provide a hands-on opportunity and environment to learn the profession of Information Technology at the entry-level from the perspective of a Tier-One Automotive Supplier. We are seeking IT Interns for the traditional spring and fall semesters as well as the summer months between the spring and fall semesters.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform entry-level service desk (aka help desk) functions including call answering/routing.
- Diagnose and resolve entry-level technical hardware and software issues.
- Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically.
- Install new software on users' computers.
- Clean, modify, and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboards, and printers.
- Follow standard service desk procedures.
- Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions.
- Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
- Work closely with other IT professionals.
- Redirect problems to appropriate resources.
- Learn to become a liaison between IT professionals and end users.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and hardware equipment (i.e. Microsoft Windows operating systems, Dell hardware, and Cisco network equipment).
- Pursuing a BS in a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be self-driven and able to accomplish entry-level troubleshooting tasks with decreasing supervision.
- Microsoft or other industry certifications (i.e. ITIL, A++) are a plus.
