Your Impact

At Lowe’s, our DACI teams build components and pipelines for delivering end-to-end data solutions for simple business problems along with the team. They develop the right solutions, following best practices, and accounting for both functional and non-functional requirements, like reliability, scalability, performance, stability, security, and long-term maintainability.
 

This role has potential for conversion after graduation into a full-time, entry-level position as part of Lowe's Launchpad program for those that successfully complete their internship and required education. Lowe's Launchpad is a rotational opportunity designed to help emerging technologists strengthen their tech skills, engage with tech leaders, and learn more about Lowe’s culture while advancing their career. Successful completion of this program could result in final placement in just 14-months.
 

What You Will Learn

As a Data Engineer intern you will gain hands-on experience and exposure to real-world projects while learning from experienced engineers. Throughout the internship, you can expect to:

  • Support the development of integrated business and enterprise application solutions in the data and analytics space, ensuring solutions are flexible, scalable, and maintainable.

  • Learn how to develop software and data solutions for business requirements, applying programming fundamentals with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Gain experience with unit testing and functional testing, including coverage for boundary conditions in alignment with system integration test plans.

  • Practice industry-standard source control and CI/CD practices to support efficient testing and deployment of code across environments.

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and demonstrations to learn best practices and align with team approaches.

  • Analyze and organize business data to deliver insights and support decision-making.

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and enhancing operational and analytical applications across business domains, leveraging frameworks and reusable components.

  • Gain exposure to cloud infrastructure and reporting tools, contributing to delivery of solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Help troubleshoot system issues, assist in root cause analysis, and learn how to ensure compliance with IT governance and regulatory frameworks.

  • Support the implementation of infrastructure-related projects that impact business operations.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or May 2027

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required

  • Strong collaborative, innovative, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required 

  • Relevant internship and experience is a plus, as is experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization

  • Proficient in MS Office Programs (specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point)
