Kyowa Kirin is a fast-growing global specialty pharmaceutical company that applies state-of-the-art biotechnologies to discover and deliver novel medicines in four disease areas: bone and mineral; intractable hematologic; hematology oncology; and rare disease. About the Role:
We are looking for talented and highly motivated university students to join our Clinical Pharmacology internship program within the Global Development Organization. This internship provides the opportunity to 1) Gain exposure to the regulatory applications of clinical pharmacology, 2) Understand the role of clinical pharmacology across the drug development spectrum, 3) Contribute to clinical pharmacology development plan and/or study design through targeted literature searches, 4) Conduct pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and pharmacometric analyses, 5) Learn how clinical trial data are evaluated to characterize the relationship between drug exposure and therapeutic response to support drug safety and efficacy evaluation.
This position is a paid, temporary internship eligible to college students within a commutable distance of Princeton, NJ. This role is a hybrid role with 3 days on site preferred. This role is open to PharmD students or PhD students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn the role of clinical pharmacology in drug development
- Develop a basic understanding and application of global regulatory guidance (e.g., FDA, EMA, PMDA) relevant to clinical pharmacology strategy
- Analyze and interpret clinical pharmacology study data
- Learn how model-informed drug development enhances dose selection and overall development strategies
- Conduct literature reviews to address scientific challenges or inform study/project design
- Learn and apply commonly used clinical pharmacology software tools
- Present findings or project outcomes at the department level
Program Highlights:
In addition to the responsibilities described above, this program will provide you with the chance to:
- Gain insight into various types and study designs of clinical pharmacology studies
- Participate in project team meetings and clinical pharmacology departmental meetings
- Collaborate with colleagues in US and Japan
- Build connections across different functions within the organization such as clinical science, clinical operations, translational research, biostatistics, and regulatory affairs.
- Receive dedicated mentorship on projects and technical skills
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a doctoral degree in the field of pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, pharmacometrics, systems biology, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field at an accredited college or university
- Good understanding and knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and biostatistics
- Experience with coding, clinical data analysis, and data visualization using graphical methods
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (Phoenix WinNonlin, NONMEM, or R), bioinformatics, or clinical research is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft 365)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated initiative, motivation, and ability to learn quickly
- Proficiency with literature searches using PubMed, Embase, or Scopus
- Able to work from May 26 to August 13, 2026 on a hybrid schedule
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must live within a commutable distance to Princeton, NJ
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent and ongoing basis without sponsorship
The anticipated hourly rate for this position will be $25.00 to $28.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered for this role at commencement of employment may vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, education (including applicable licenses and certifications, job-based knowledge, location, and other business and organizational needs.
