The Facilities Engineering Intern will support the design, management, and execution of facilities construction and infrastructure improvement projects across the Richardson campus. Working within the Facilities team, you will be involved in a range of activities including planning layout modifications, supporting active construction sites, assisting with general maintenance efforts, and helping compile technical information to support maintenance tasks and work orders. This hands-on internship offers a balance of field work and office-based planning, giving you valuable exposure to real-world facility operations.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of facilities infrastructure projects, including layout changes, utility modifications, and construction activities.

  • Assist with tracking and responding to facility service requests and work orders.

  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives by monitoring compliance items.

  • Help coordinate vendors and contractors during onsite work.

  • Support construction management by tracking schedules, reviewing plans, and coordinating with contractors and vendors.

  • Help evaluate and document facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, and power distribution.

  • Contribute to the development of site improvement plans through data gathering, design input, and field verification.

  • Aid in compiling and organizing technical information for maintenance teams to ensure timely task completion.

  • Participate in field inspections and assist in monitoring construction or maintenance progress.

  • Work with experienced facilities engineers to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
