About this opportunity

MillerKnoll’s Summer Internship Program is a paid, 12-week opportunity that provides a 100% real-world experience for students early in their careers. Throughout the summer you will apply academic learning to real-world situations and cultivate leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

As a Communications Intern, you’ll join MillerKnoll at a moment , where we’re driving bold design innovation, redefining the customer experience through new retail stores and showrooms around the world, and energizing our teams around our shared vision to design for the good of humankind.

You’ll gain a 360-degree view of communications, working across both internal and external channels. From our internal platform, MyMK, to our newsroom, media outreach, and award submissions, you’ll help craft stories that bring MillerKnoll’s work and impact to life.

Along the way,  you’ll develop skills in multi-channel storytelling, strategic messaging, and media engagement. You’ll also gain a unique perspective by connecting with all parts of the business, seeing internal and external communications in action, and understanding how we engage a wide range of audiences—from associates and customers to the broader design community.

What You'll Do

  • Help develop corporate award submissions across design innovation, sustainability, and workplace excellence, including conducting research to highlight MillerKnoll achievements.
  • Monitor media coverage for competitive news and trends, identifying opportunities for MillerKnoll and its spokespeople to contribute to relevant, trending conversations.
  • Develop people-focused stories for MyMK that celebrate our culture, highlight team contributions, and showcase MillerKnoll’s mission to design for a better world.
  • Support day-to-day management of MyMK to keep the platform engaging and up-to-date.
  • Capture key moments from Design Days 2026 in June, tracking media coverage and summarizing MillerKnoll’s presence for leadership, and sharing stories on MyMK.
  • Assist with Better World communications, such as volunteer efforts and philanthropic in partnership with the MillerKnoll Foundation, connective programs from our BRGs and the Belonging Team, and more.
     

What You Bring 
The needed skills and experience for this role include... 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in conducting research and transforming findings into compelling narratives
  • Excellent project and time management abilities
  • Proactively manages timelines and advocates for workload prioritization
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Creates visually engaging and concise slide decks to support storytelling

Education

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, or a related field 
  • You must have a GPA of at least 3.0 (overall or within your program) to qualify for consideration in the Intern Program.

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the US and will not require sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations
