DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION
This position is located in the Safety Section of the Utilities Department and will work in a section with four departmental safety professionals. This position may also be utilized for students and interns working part-time on special projects while completing advanced degree programs. The Safety Intern will directly support our department’s strategic goal of embedding safety into every aspect of operations. With the launch of several major initiatives—including custom Forklift and Excavation Safety Programs, a Digital SDS Inventory, Virtual ERG Training Pilots, and an expanded Transitional Work Program curriculum—additional support is essential to ensure timely and effective execution. The Safety Intern will support the Utilities Safety Section’s FY2026 initiatives. The intern will play a critical role in enhancing field safety engagement, supporting data-driven safety improvements, and accelerating the implementation of key safety programs. This internship will run on a defined timeline, concluding on May 31, 2026.
JOB SUMMARY
This part-time position is located in the Regulatory Compliance Division of the Utilities Department and is used for training purposes in the field of public administration and in the specific operation of City departments. The position is responsible for providing standard research and administrative and/or technical support to an assigned City department. Typical duties include: performing a wide variety of administrative, project-related, department-specific, and/or financial assignments to assist a City department or division. This position may also be utilized for students and interns working part-time on special projects while completing advanced degree programs.
Pay Method: City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card.

Background Investigation, Drug Testing, Physical Examination: Upon a conditional offer of employment/acceptance of position, the City of Oklahoma City will conduct a criminal history background check for external applicants. If the position accepted includes a driver license (commercial or non-commercial) Job Requirement, the City of Oklahoma City will obtain a Motor Vehicle Report for internal and external applicants.

If the position accepted is cyber security sensitive, internal and external applicants will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check.
